하나님께서는 당신에 관한 한 그리스도의 죽으심에 의해서 얻게된 혜택들을 모든 사람들에게 공평하게 분배하기를 원하셨다는 의견을 경솔하고 미숙한 방식으로 주입하기 위해서, 획득하는 것과 적용하는 것 사이에 차이를 강조하는 사람들; 그들은 어떤 사람들이 다른 사람들과는 달리 죄의 용서와 영생을 얻기 위해서 나아오는 그 차이가 그들 자신의 자유선택에 의존하며(이것으로 차별없이 제공되어지는 은혜가 가능해진다고 한다), 그들 속에 효과적으로 역사하여서 다른 사람들이 아닌 바로 자신들에게 그 자비를 적용하게 되는 그 자비의 독특한 선물에 의존하는 것이 아니라고 주장한다.

이런 주장이 잘못된 것은, 받아들일 수 있는 의미로 이런 구별을 하고 있는 척하지만, 그들은 펠라기안주의의 치명적인 독약을 사람들에게 퍼뜨리려고 하고 있기 때문이다.
