토드 벤틀리의 부도덕한 사생활

 

Early life

Bentley was raised mainly in Gibsons, British Columbia, a small community on the western coast of Canada.^[2] His parents divorced while he was a child, after which Bentley struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and criminal activities. Bentley credited his conversion to Jesus Christ for delivering him from that lifestyle and propelling him into ministry at age 18.

Personal life

Bentley is currently separated from his wife, Shonnah.^[11] They have three children. It has been announced by the board of directors of Freshfire Ministries that Bentley has stepped down as leader of that ministry following the revelation of an "unhealthy emotional relationship of an emotional nature with a female member of his staff" and the current estrangement between him and his wife.

Stephen Strader, Pastor of the Ignited Church mentioned that Bentley had deliberately kept him out of the loop and stated "Three years ago, he did the exact same thing. He grew out of his relationship to his wife and transferred his affection to another . . . The bottom line is that he was traveling too much and not taking care of his wife and family like he should."^[13]

John Arnott, Pastor of the Toronto Airport Fellowship writes that "Todd Bentley has chosen to do something that is wrong according to Scripture, and his timing to announce it was equally inappropriate...Furthermore, it has now come out that there has been some inappropriate behavior, both with excessive drinking and also with a female member of his staff. Please don't jump to conclusions or assume the worst, but this behavior is wrong before the Lord.
